Why I work at Moscow Family Medicine?

I am a senior partner along with Dr. Ruby and our vision to develop Moscow Family Medicine began in 1985. I came to Moscow as a solo practioner in 1979. Moscow is a great community and I have a long family history in Latah County and plan to continue that tradition.

Education:
Dr. Spain graduated from the University of Idaho in 1972 and was a charter member of the WWAMI medical student program. He attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and received his Degree of Medicine in 1976. The next three years were spent at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine where he completed his Family Medicine residency.

Certifications and Professional Affiliations/Memberships:
Dr. Spain is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice with his initial certification in 1979.  He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and is licensed to practice medicine in Idaho and Washington. He is a Member of the Idaho Medical Association and the Idaho Academy of Family Practice.

A little something personal:
I am married to Michelle Spain and I have one son, Dr. Christopher Spain. Christopher is an orthodontist in Sacramento, California.

Moscow Family Medicine and I have a long tradition of providing medical education to our WWAMI program. I was in the first class in 1972 at the University of Idaho and building a foundation for our medical students education in a rural setting has encouraged many to return to our area to be your physicians of today.

Medical Services and Interests:
Dr. Spain’s is particularly interested and skilled in nasopharyngoscopy, osteopathic manipulation of the spine, in-office surgical procedures for skin lesions, and joint injections. He especially enjoys pediatric and geriatric care.
