Steve Fischer, PA-C

Why did you choose Moscow Idaho?

I was born and raised in Idaho and I acquired my undergraduate degree in Zoology at the University of Idaho. After graduating from LCSC and working as a Registered Nurse for 5 years, I attended the University of Washington to become a Physician Assistant. I worked on the Washington coast for 5 years but came back to Idaho in 1988.  Living in Moscow allows me to be close to my family and have access to a lot of outdoor activities.

Why did you chose family practice as your specialty?

I have worked in many areas of the medical field including: nursing, surgery, orthopedics and ICU/CCU.  I like being able to offer my patients complete medical care and a family practice has allowed me to provide that. I now work mainly at University of Idaho Student Health, and hope to retire in about 3 years.

What associations do you have with the WWAMI program?

I have assisted with internships for people interested in PA and NP programs.

Family, Hobbies and Interests

Riding my 2003 Harley Road King is one of my favorite activities.  I also enjoy fly-fishing on the St. Joe River and other Northwest rivers and lakes with my wife, Debbie, and traveling to the southwest United States.  Debbie teaches 2nd grade in Moscow and is involved with the Chinooks, a Masters Swimming group.
